Callum/Charlie
Callum didn't say anything when Charlie approached him. It was absurd that the mere presence next to him would make him feel better, until he started to think and the temporary nature of it all came back, but he was too weak to just leave.
"Don't mention it," he answered. The brief exchange was another reminder of how things had changed quickly. Last time, Callum had just been there, and neither had expected any different.
"I'm sorry. This can't be easy on any of you." He couldn't imagine how family could deal with the death of an infant, someone so pure and innocent. "Take as long as you need with your family. I'll go back to the reserve and make sure that everything is all right." It wasn't exactly how he'd planned to spend his birthday, but then his plans involved drinking and shagging. They could wait until later.
