Re: Rose and Bill
Bill had tried to avoid looking at Hope's tiny coffin, but it was impossible not to. He remembered the baby he'd held, rocked gently in his arms while trying to calm Lily. Again and again the questions haunted him. If he'd asked more, if he'd- But it was leading no where, and there were others who needed him more. Those who were still alive.
From the window, he could see Rose outside, in nothing but her robes. Summoning her cloak and his, he dressed and followed her, approaching her from behind. She didn't seem to notice him even if he wasn't being quiet.
"That looks cold," he said, not wanting to startle her too much as he leaned down and placed her cloak over her shoulders. "I thought you could use some company." He sat down next to her, casting a warming charm over the two of them. Rose already looked like she was chilled to the bone, but at least he could make her more comfortable.
"What's going on, Rose?" he asked softly, vowing to himself that this time he'd ask and poke and not back away like he always did. Not when the potential price was so high. Perhaps mum had had a point with all her prodding after all.
