Charlie had the distinct impression that this conversation was going nowhere fast, they were going to keep going around and around what each one of them said for quite a while if they kept this up. "Stop, okay, just stop. You're here for Callum, I am here for Callum let's just go from there, yeah? Because I'm not going to keep doing this with you. I want him to be happy even if that's not with me, and even if that really does mean he goes to another country, and I'm not even going to bother addressing whether or not that's what you want because I have a feeling you wouldn't have bothered to come here at all if that weren't the case. And this isn't easy for either of us, and I am an idiot, satisfied?" Because really Charlie just didn't have the patience to do another round of trying to explain himself, especially with Alastor.
"I suggested trying another option, I did not say no." Charlie groaned pressing his face into his hands, the heels of his hands pressing into his eyes for just a moment before dropping his hands into his lap. He'd tried to explain that to Callum, to tell him his reasoning and for all that Callum seemed to have listened to him it was clear he hadn't been heard at all.
"I don't have experience with this, I don't know how these relationships work, but when he told me it hurt too much for me to be near him I'm not sure what else I am supposed to do. Force him to stay when that will continue to hurt him? Continue to interfere in his life when he doesn't seem to want that?" Charlie sighed as he watched Alastor's face. "Everything is wrong here, you're too old, and Baron's grown, and I ... if you two don't need him then why should he stay?" Not that Charlie thought for a second that Alastor or Baron would not continue to need Callum, any more than he thought he didn't need him, but he could see how Callum could come to that conclusion.
