"No you're right, I don't know what that's like, but I don't know much more than you do about relationships and the way people go about getting married. I've lived almost my whole life on a reserve and things here haven't changed all that much in the last forty-five years." And Charlie had made a habit of avoiding things like marriage and relationships as much as possible over his life, which was likely how he'd thought it was a good idea to talk to Percy about relationship issues.
"If my family hasn't been able to get me married for five decades do you really think you could just come along and force me to get married all on your own?" Charlie asked Callum, only partially trying to lighten the mood that had fallen over them since he'd entered the tent, and more to affirm that this wasn't something Callum could just force him into.
"I'm asking to help you," Charlie said slowly, "I'm asking you to let me be here to support you and give you what you need, it doesn't have to be more than that." He insisted. He shook his head when Callum mentioned leaving the reserve again, moving somewhere else. "I know you wouldn't make me look bad, you don't have to promise me things like that. I trust you to do the right thing, but leaving now - that's not the right thing. Your family needs you here, even if you and Alastor are on the outs he needs you here, and Baron too." He let the fact that he needed Callum remain unsaid - he'd all ready told him that more than once tonight.
