"First thing's first, you don't just out of the blue ask someone you haven't been dating to marry you," Percy replied, he tried to adopt a kind of jovial tone in hopes of lightening the mood ever so slightly. "You didn't need to ask Callum to marry you because you wanted to come home to him at the end of the day. You could have just said you are willing to take the next step, or whatever it is the kids say these days."
Percy nodded. "That is problematic, but it is only a problem. And it isn't insurmountable. If you love him, then tell him so. And then find a way to make the work, well, work. It won't be easy, but then the important things in life hardly ever are."
"Given he brought someone back, do you still want Callum?" Because that really was the crux of the issue. For the moment at least. Clearly the bigger crux was Percy knowing more about dating and marriage than Charlie, and that was just hilarious.
