"I'm confused," Percy started before pausing to make sure he didn't phrase this the wrong way. "You were clearly involved but weren't dating. And yet you asked him to marry you?"
What the hell was wrong with his siblings? Of course, dating precedes marriage. Even Percy Weasley knew that.
"No, that would not be a good image to have," Percy admitted, nodding his head. "But it can work. It works for Moody and McKinnon. And anyone who wants to make accusations of impropriety against them will find just how inconvenient it is to have the Minister for Magic as their enemy. It works as long as both parties' competence has been established."
"I take it bringing people back to the reserve is a euphemism," he held up his hand. He didn't need Charlie explaining it to him. "I'm still confused about the this is that you're trying to make work that somehow isn't dating. But enough of that. Who did he bring back that upset you so much? I don't think bringing just anyone back would've disturbed you this much." Percy had his nose stuck in a book for much of his life, but he wasn't completely dense. Plus, that Charlie had come to see him, Percy, was already an omen of the degree of pain.
