"When it comes to keepers, it usually is." Charlie told him, he knew Percy was devoted to his job, or maybe just his promotions - either way he figured his brother would understand what it was to put the job before anything else. That is the way it had always been, and Charlie had been completely happy with that sort of life up until recently, he had his dragons, he got laid when he wanted, and he got to do a job he loved - what more did he really need?
Charlie gladly accepted the glass Percy handed off to him, taking a long drink and letting the burn in the back of his throat clear his head for a moment.
"I don't honestly know anymore." He started. "We were working together and then it was more than that." Charlie still wasn't sure when exactly that had happened, he just knew that it had and they'd tried to deal with it from there. "Things with the new reserve aren't going well," That was a lie, the new reserve itself was going perfectly fine, thanks to the help they'd gotten from Stephen's staff, as well as having actually trained keepers around they'd gotten everything set up and the dragons were settling into the new space easily. "We got used to Hogwarts, there weren't the same kind of restrictions and things on what you do when you're working with people who aren't actually keepers. And now..." He shrugged.
"I asked him to marry me," Or maybe Callum has asked him him, but did it really matter who had done the asking? It had been obvious Callum didn't really wanted to get married, and Charlie had been willing to concede the point that if they found a way around this without marriage they could do that instead, he just hadn't realized a way around this was to bring people back to the reserve and fuck them instead of each other.
