Charlie knew his question probably seemed strange, and the look on Percy's face only confirmed that. But he was glad his brother humored him, and answered the question before he questioned his reasons for asking it. He snorted when Percy told him they knew when Audrey had told him, that sounded very much like his sister-in-law. And he grinned when Percy mentioned her hair, that was less like the Percy he knew, but amusing all the same.
"You're not even 50 yet, it's hardly ancient history." He reminded Percy with a smirk. Oh they might have all been younger then, but they weren't that old just yet.
He was quiet for a few minutes though putting his thoughts together trying to make some sense out of them, as much for himself as it was for Percy's sake. "I never minded not being married, you know, he leaned back a bit in the chair - not that it was really the sort for it, and stretched his legs out in front of him. "I've always been happy to be married to my job, and the dragons. It kind of goes with the job, being married at a reserve can be a pain, most women don't want to put up with all of that, and there's the hours, and the climate in most of the places I've worked. It hasn't ever been an issue."
"And you don't just marry another keeper, I mean..." Charlie stopped himself, he didn't know what he was trying to say, and he really doubted that Percy could understand him either, for all the work he'd done to try and pull his thoughts together into something coherent. "Things aren't going well with Callum."
