Dylan would never understand it. To him society meant nothing and the people meant everything, and while yes, he understood that they could be one and the same, he also knew that Society was more than just the individuals within it. That it came with a certain set of rules and traditions that you'd better not break if you wanted to stay a part of it. Rules that his father had broken by just being of the wrong blood. That he had no influence over.
He didn't say any of that though, instead he just smiled a bit. "If it helped keep you safe, I'm glad," he said, chuckling as she went on.
"Nope, not stubborn enough to get killed. Or maybe just too good to?" he said with confidence, though he knew that being good wasn't what ultimately kept you alive. Not only. A great deal of luck helped, and in his case, not being important enough to be a constant target.
He pondered if he should tell her she hired his best friend, but decided not to. There was no need to make her see even clearer why they were worlds apart. "I'm glad you're all safe," he said, adding with a smirk. "I'd hate it if Inamorata was hurt after all."
