"Or maybe life at Hogwarts spoilt us. No matter how much we wanted to be a real reserve, it wasn't and we got lazy and did what felt good without thinking of the consequences," he said. They had acted like a pair of reckless teenagers who paid no mind to rules, the rules that would exist on a real reserve.
"Yes, I'm aware of that, which is why I offered to go. These people trust you; they know you. You need to be here and in charge. I can go somewhere else. It is the thing that makes sense." At least if he wanted to have a shred of reputation when this was over. At this point, it didn't even matter that Charlie was a man, but he was the boss. At Hogwarts the difference between the two of them and the rest of the kids had made it irrelevant, but now, there were other keepers who could do his job, others who weren't fucking Charlie on a nightly basis.
"People don't know that. People will see someone who just arrived from another time, getting the second best spot on the reserve and sharing a tent with the boss," Callum said. "It's not right, but I don't know how to solve the problem. I really don't."
