"Clearly our priorities have been skewed." But Callum was right, he was all ready missing the way things had been during the war - from the moment he'd been forced into the Ministry he wished things didn't have to change so much, and here they were dealing with more changes.
"Not to you, and not to Baron, or Alastor." The latter two were not particularly important on a reserve, but Charlie didn't exactly want Callum's family thinking badly of him depending on how things went here. But Charlie would see his point, Callum was the unknown here - the keepers coming to work with them knew Charlie, they'd worked with him before and he was friends with a great many of them - no one knew Callum except for the four of them who had worked together at Hogwarts.
Charlie nodded, they did need the other keepers to trust Callum - it was all part and parcel of how this job worked, if you didn't trust the keepers you worked with it was a great way to get yourself killed. "I need you here, and not just because of this relationship - I need someone trained who knows these dragons, and there is no one better for that than you." Charlie didn't want Callum to go to another reserve, the very idea of it was so far from appealing that Charlie didn't even want to think of it.
This whole situation was such a mess, and Charlie didn't even know where to begin to fix it. Maybe he should have been paying more attention to the relationships of his siblings, then maybe he'd have some clue how these things were supposed to work.
