"I suppose that fits." Charlie had always avoided relationships - he liked shagging, he liked casual, he liked one time handjobs to help with the tension. But relationship he steered clear of, and here he was getting himself in over his head without even realizing it until he was all ready there.
Callum wasn't wrong to be concerned, even with the differences in the times they were from - this was big, and it'd be a little strange if they weren't concerned.
Charlie let Callum get up, following him with his eyes while he paced. "Look, it's not just so I can be with you - I have spent my entire life avoiding even the hint of relationships, to stay as far away from marriage as I possibly could. I'm not just going to suggest this so I can spend more time with you - we work together, I think I'll have plenty of that no matter what we do." Unless things ended up so damaged that one of them left, but Charlie wasn't going to consider that.
"I'm not going to suggest we get married on a whim. I don't know about you, but I'm finding it very difficult to imagine doing this, any of this, without you around, and not just for your brilliant ideas. I just ... I need you around, I need this relationship, I need you."
