"I wouldn't put it past some people," He chuckled - he didn't think anyone actually wanted him there that badly, a body for the position maybe, but not him specifically. Charlie wasn't really sure how to answer Callum's question, because it was one thing to say call off the sex - but it wasn't just about the sex anymore. Charlie wanted Callum in his bed at night even when they weren't fucking, the way they were sitting now, touching each other was enough to see that this wasn't just sex. "Whatever we're doing," but how to put an end to all of this and maintain some kind of relationship for working? Charlie wasn't sure how they could manage that.
It would have been easier to say yes, men moved in together all the time on reserves - but Charlie wasn't ever one for lies. "If one of them is a man another other is a woman." Which was the opposite of helpful, and even that didn't happen as often as people might think, partially because there weren't many women on reserves, and the reserve mentality was still several years behind the general population.
"Are you seriously suggesting we get married?" Some part of Charlie's brain knew Callum was just looking for some kind of a solution but the bigger part of his mind had latched on to the idea of marriage and it was not going to be shaken so easily. "I mean, I guess it could help things, but you're not suggesting we get married so that people don't talk behind our backs, right?"
