Hugo didn't know what to make of Aunt Ginny's return. He was thrilled, of course he was, but it seemed weird in a way. Good weird, definitely, but to have another Aunt or Uncle come back at only a few years older than him was sort of a mindfuck.
He drifted into the Great Hall after an early morning Quidditch practice, and found himself at a loss. Several of his friends from Gryffindor were crowded at one end of their table, laughing about something. Hugo knew he could go join them, but sometimes lately he just hadn't felt that they had anything in common anymore.
Then he spotted Alex, eating alone at the Ravenclaw table, and made a decision. And if the professors wanted to take away points for not sitting at his own House table, let them. This was more important. He slid in across from Alex, and cleared his throat.
"Hey, it's Hugo. Do you mind if I join you?" He wasn't really expecting a negative, but it would be less than polite to not ask.
