Re: Ginny & Jamie
For once, Jamie was not at the ministry. He was home, spending a lazy morning with Sirius before getting ready to go to Malfoy manor for the Christening. It was a simple plan, but he should know better than to think that the unexpected wouldn't happen.
When he got the fire message from Marlene, he got dressed in no time. The woman would not joke with something like that. He told Sirius to go to the party by himself and give his apologies to Draco and Astoria. He'd make his personal apology late, but today he had more important things to do.
He rushed to the Ministry and for once he was glad that their name opened more than one door, because people were falling over themselves to tell him where she was. Stepping inside, he didn't know what to expect. He'd done this as an Auror, seen relatives come back, but as he stood there, he knew that this could never be like any of the other returns.
Jamie stood there for a moment, and when she spoke up, he shook his head. "No, you don't, but I know you." He moved closer and crouched in front of her chair, hands on her knee. He just looked for a while. She was so beautiful and young. He didn't even realise that he was crying at first, and when he did, he wiped his face. "Sorry, Mum. It's just... it's good to have you back."
