"It's good to see you too, kid," he said, grinning at her. It was just so damn good to see her alive. He might not have any memories of her from before his return, but he'd gotten to know her in the past months, and he liked what he saw. "Nothing to be worried about. I'm all in one piece for awhile longer."
He looked around the party, taking note of who was here and who wasn't. Names, occupations when he knew them, general behavior. It was all important in its own way, and Kingsley had every intention of putting the afternoon to good use. Because Merlin knew he wasn't interested in children.
"So, how are you settling in again? Got a place to stay all right?" He'd have offered his couch, except he spent most nights at the Ministry and went home to the tiny flat he'd rented just to sleep. He really needed to get out, get laid, have some fun, or Kingsley was going to become a very dull boy.
