If Andromeda was good at reading Tonks at all, and she might not be, Tonks wasn't really blinded by idealism, she was just trying. Trying so, so damn hard to feel good about life despite losses and changes, to take a good chance at this third blessing given. She really wanted it to be a good life, so she was trying. It wasn't easy, though. There was sadness behind her eyes too.
It surged forward just a bit more as Andromeda pulled away from the hug like she had been burnt. For a few heartbeats, Tonks couldn't hide that jerk of heartache at the fact her mother didn't want to be touched by her own daughter. It left her speechless, almost burnt herself. "...Sorry, Andromeda." Tonks responded, the first time the whole conversation she didn't call the woman mum.
"That... that is fine. I shall show you after the party. Find me before you go. I...won't bother you otherwise. You probably have others to see."
