Cassandra and Kat
Cassandra smiled as she looked around the room. Though generally one to prefer children to babies -- it was difficult to ride with any child under two or three -- she thought a christening was a perfect celebration to have so soon after the war's end. It reminded them all that life could continue despite the events of this last summer.
Seeing Katherine nearby, Cassandra excused herself from her conversation with to of the Witches' Society matrons and made her way through the assembled to greet her friend. Reaching Katherine's side, she motioned for two champagne flutes, one for each of them.
"Hello Katherine," she said warmly, dropping her voice to tease gently, "Do my eyes deceive me, or are you smiling for the first time in too long?"
