James pushed forward a smile and listened quietly. He wasn't going to react to Regulus. He wouldn't. He'd made a choice. Did it mean he was likely to ever invite him anywhere again? No. Probably not. He knew what they'd done and knew those hadn't been the best choices he'd made in his life, but he could fix it now. He was allowed to be given a chance to fix his mistakes just like everyone else.
Like he imagined they would, Sirius and Remus seemed to take note of the fact that Severus had found out before them."A lifetime of hatred for a man when you can't even remember why you started hating him in the first place doesn't make any sense," he said quietly to Remus. When Sirius started talking James held up his hand.
"Lily asked if he and Al could come over, and after seeing him with Al in the infirmary, I couldn't say no. He cares for Al. That much is quite obvious. And after dinner-" One that went far fucking better than this one, anyway. "I decided that I'd made the right decision by allowing him to come over. He's actually, quite surprisingly even, very interesting to talk to. Now that they can't leave Hogwarts, it was only a logical choice to have them over earlier."
He smiled quietly to himself at the memory of Al's question about small children. The boy was quite amusing in his own right. However, as he brought himself out of his thoughts, he replaced his smile for a more serious expression. "If you have any poor comments about him, you may keep them to yourself, please."
He turned towards Jamie, smiling a little. "Thank you, Jamie. I'll be sure to do so."
