James started at Severus for a moment, holding back on his laughter. Seeing Severus look so shocked and so happy was kind of hilarious. He had seen so much happy Severus that he didn't know how to process it. Then again, he hadn't mentioned whether James would be a good father...which he would thank you very much.
However, Al's question caused him to break from those thoughts and turn to look at his grandson, laughing at his expression. He was adorable...even if he was only a couple years younger than he was. "I quite enjoy small children, Al," he assured him quietly. "They are sometimes my favorite. Severus will agree with me when I say that we are on the same page mentally."
He glanced toward the other man as he went on about checking Lily over. Perhaps that would be a very good idea, actually. Severus was skilled when it came to those things, and James found it odd that he trusted him quite a good deal when it came to Lily. "But don't you worry, Al. Grandmother Lily and I really love small children and we'll even love them as they grow up and get older." He smiled a little. "I'll even tell you a secret. We will still love them when they are as old as you, even if they will drive us insane between the ages of 11 and 17." He glanced towards Lily. "Won't we, Lils?"
