James listened quietly and carefully, smiling a little at some of the names. "Peter? Really?" He'd been wondering if the other man had been all right. He'd seen him in the infirmary and smiled his way and wanted to say something, only he didn't know what to say or how to say it or any of the things he ought to say. Nothing seemed quite right. Maybe Lily would know how to start that conversation.
"I can't speak for Lily's job but mine hasn't been too bad. Paperwork is the work of some evil, nefarious creature, but besides that it's all right. I got a new partner and that seems to be working out really well. Lily over there is under special precautions." He leaned over to kiss her on the cheek. "I know we're not supposed to tell. Healers rules and all, but we thought you could be among the first to know."
He glanced at Lily as if waiting for her approval. Once he had it, he said, "Lily caught this really common disease. It's called pregnancy. It generally results in a baby in about nine months time. Though, we still have to go deal with healers and all to be sure that it will make it, but I'm optimistic."
