Ben hugged Rose back, running one hand over her hair. He knew she'd been crying, it was sort of hard to miss, and he wished he knew what to say to make it better. But considering the fact that the only thing that was holding him together right now was that he had to be strong for his friends, it was easier to just hold on and let her cry it out.
"I'm back at...at my house," he said, stumbling just a little because he'd wanted to say our house. "There's a lot to see to. Packing. Cleaning. Sorting through my dad's things." That was kind of nice too, because his father had kept things he'd forgotten about, and each one was a new memory.
"I'm going to be okay, Rose. I have my friends, and I know the Newtons' won't mind if I crash in on them from time to time."
