Their first stop had been the doctors. While people didn't just drop in there, James supposed that the end of the war constituted as an emergency, even if not of the medical kind. The Healer was understanding and explained everything that was happening. Twenty-five weeks, that's how far along she was, and optimally she had another fifteen to go. The Healer talked as it was nothing, but James couldn't imagine waiting that long. Really, pregnancies were not for Gryffindors, because it was abnormal to ask anyone to wait that long for a child.
While at the office, Regulus asked way too many questions with his usual calm. James thought he was planning ahead, but it was nothing compared to Regulus' detached curiousity. He'd have to ask later how detached it really was, after they finally managed to get out of the office. Of course, the questions didn't come, because their next stop was the American ministry were with what James was coming to consider usual American efficiency, they were procsesed and married in less than fifteen minutes, even though they were not American.
They hadn't planned any place to go, but the Healer had recommended a new restaurant inside Belasi's tower. After finding out about the new town, James was curious to see the place. The tower itself was one of those huge New York sky scrapers. Inside, marble met water fountains and plants, a strange contrast that would never exist in England. They had to take an elevator to go up to the ninety-fourth floor. The experience was bloody surreal. James didn't breathe the entire time. He didn't like being so high without a broom; it was unnatural.
Inside the restaurant, they were escorted to a smaller room, reserved for wizards, or at least James assumed so from the use of magic. They hadn't asked them if they were wizards, but he supposed that their robes were a dead giveaway. Finally they were seated with food on their wine and wine on their table. "God, we're out of Hogwarts and I'm not working," he said grinning.
