Where: Ministry
When: 24 October, 2025
Summary: Marlene begins turning the Division into what it was always supposed to be
And so it started. Sunday morning and she was in the office. She had waited too long, trying to decide. There were plenty of reasons to turn Hermione down, from personal to professional. Logic said that she should leave the job for someone else, but logic didn't keep the world safe, people did, and in the end there was no other option but to accept. She was going to save the world, after all. This was just another way of doing it.
First order of business was using the people she had to make the Division what it had been. While she decided, she'd read about the history of it after her death. The change had been gradual, with less and less applicants until they stopped for six solid years, and then Kings took over. Marlene was surprised by the change. Kings created a kinder, gentler version with people like Potter, Weasley and Longbottom. It's not that she didn't like the three men, but they wouldn't have survived a day in her division. They weren't here to protect criminal's rights; that was the Wizengamot's job. They certainly weren't here to be friends with the people; that was the Patrol's job. They were here to stop all unauthorised use of the Dark Arts and arrest those that violated the rules. It was that simple, and she planned to go back to that.
In light of the changes in direction, she decided to let the Aurors know, starting her love-hate relationship with interoffice memo communications.
From: Marlene McKinnon, Head Auror To: All Aurors Date: 24 October, 2025 Re: New Assignments Aurors Directives: The mission of the Auror Division is to prevent, discover, and anticipate the use of any and all unauthorised use of Dark Magic and to investigate, arrest and successfully prosecute anyone violating all rules, laws and decrees about the use of Dark Magic. Aurors Assignments: Teams will be created to fully live up to our directives. At the moment, the following teams will exist: - Counterintelligence: This will be the only permanent unit. Members will investigate all indications and suspicion of Dark Magic and/or possession of Dark objects. Particular attention should be given to individuals that had the favours of the Riddle government, any returnee from eras when the Dark Magic was allowed, any known criminal. Raids of private homes are authorised when there is sufficient indication that it's more probable than not that Dark objects are stored there. Further regulations and guidelines will be issued. - Hogwarts: patrol of the school and temporary detention of any returnee. Starting the First of November, 2025, all returnees will be brought to the Ministry for detention and interrogation before being released. No exceptions will be made for anyone. The use of lethal force against anyone arriving is authorised until further notice. - Diagon Alley: to search for any Dark hexes or objects. Curse breakers will be called to terminate the hex. All Dark objects will be confiscated in compliance with the law. - Knocturn Alley: to search for any Dark hexes or objects. Curse breakers will be called to terminate the hex. All Dark objects will be confiscated in compliance with the law. - Hogsmeade: to search for any Dark hexes or objects. Curse breakers will be called to terminate the hex. All Dark objects will be confiscated in compliance with the law. Aurors Trainees: All trainees living and training at Hogwarts during the siege will be given expedited classes to supplement the education they have already received. Tests for full qualification will be given in December. Additional Crimes: Aurors will pass any crime not related to Dark magic to the MLE Patrol. Exception will be made for grievous crimes like murder and theft that could related to Dark magic activity. This will be left to the discretion of the leading investigator, subject to review. |
