"To be honest, today's the first day I've really been awake for this long at a time," he said, reaching for her hand akwardly. "I'm really glad your fmaily is okay, baby. Do you think your grandparents would like to meet me? Maybe we can do that before we have to go back to school. Wherever and whenever that's going to be." He wasn't sure how he felt about being just a student again, even if it was important and he knew his mother wouldn't give him any other choice.
"I'm so glad you weren't out there, Wren. It was...it wasn't what I'd thought it would be," he said quietly. "It was really kinda scary, and if you tell anyone I said that I'll not talk to you for a week." He couldn't let his parents know how scared he'd been, it would just give them more ammunition to ground him forever.
Grinning as she was more to his elvel, he raised his head to brush her lips with his own. They were at the wrong angle for anything deeper, but even that simple kiss was enough. He grew serious though, when she asked him to promise her no more battles. "I can't promise you that, baby. I don't even know what I'm going to do after I get my NEWTs, but it might be something that puts me in that situation again. I can promise, though, no more battles while I'm in school. Except for Quidditch and water fights."
