"I'm glad he's all right. And that he brought you here. I was starting to think you were avoiding me on purpose," he said lightly, because he didn't really believe that. Mostly.
He hadn't realized how worried he'd been about the scars, until Wren had looked them over and not acted any differently. He'd tried not to think about them much, and they would be mostly hidden under his clothes, except for the jagged bite on his neck. He wasn't ashamed of them, but he knew they weren't pretty. He shouldn't have worried about him.
"Dad already had a few words with me, and I'm pretty sure there will be more from both him and mum when I get out of here, so I think you can forget about the hexing," he said with a grimace. He really wasn't looking forward to another of those conversations.
"I really love you," he said when she was done. "And I'd really love to kiss you right now, but you're too far away." He could sit up, but it made him woozy and the new potions he was on for the pain made him sleepy as well.
