Hugo sighed. He'd known this lecture would be coming, but he'd hoped it would wait until he could sit up properly. But maybe this was better, get it out of the way.
"I'm not sorry, Dad," he said seriously. "I'd do it again, and I know you'd do the same if you were me. Hell, you did do the same, and you hadn't been intensively training for months like we've been doing. What were all those classes for, if not to put them to use?"
He knew he was bordering on disrespectful, but he needed his dad to understand that he'd just been doing what he had to do, protecting his family. "I was doing okay until the wolf got me from the back. It could have happened to anyone. Hell, it happened to Uncle Bill, and he was older than me."
