Lilith... Lily... was standing far by the window. The rest of the room was sort of all right, for now. Al took another wary step toward the nearest chair and perched on the edge of it, like a wild bird, ready to bolt if needed.
They said twenty minutes... nineteen-and-a-half now, and if I wait longer, it'll be close to nineteen...
Al kept his eye on her. She didn't seem too active and she was... obviously carrying developing offspring within her body for awhile, which certainly impeded her mobility. So if I run, maybe she won't catch me.
Whew!
Al didn't know what to say or whether to speak at all.
