Remus was a man who didn't make many promises. Mostly, that was because he'd learned during his life that he might not be around to keep them. He'd moved so much after the war, following the jobs, the research, keeping promises had been problematic.
But, when he did make one, he kept it.
Which was why he'd told Regulus the morning not to expect him for all of lunch today, that he was going to see Lily again. While he hoped this wasn't going to turn into another argument about Potters, Remus had promised Lily to visit often and he owed it to her, to her father, to her brother, possibly even to his own sense of guilt, to keep that promise. He had thirty minutes of break time. He was only allowed twenty with her. It was plenty of time left over to stop in and steal a few minutes' time with his lover before heading out to the day's training sessions.
After passing Moody's security protocols, Remus let the guard that would be his 'escort' for the visit go into the room first. It was lunchtime for everyone in the castle and Lily's lunch had arrived at the same time he did, which had given him an idea. Leaning in the doorway as he had before, he grinned at Lily while the guard settled her lunch for her before stepping to one side and allowing Remus his visit. "Hello, Lily. Hope you don't mind company for lunch. I have a way to make up for the interruption, if you like."
