She smiled as she watched her parents tease one another. It made her happy to see them together, teasing and enjoying one another's company, while at the same time saddened her because she and Bryn hadn't been like that in ages. Deep down, she knew it wasn't anyone's fault, but Rose felt responsible. Starting right now, you will be more attentive to Bryn, she demanded of herself.
Reaching over, she took a hold of her husband's hand and held it while the cake was passed around. She flashed him a smile before taking a smaller piece since she was already full from dinner. With everyone having cake, Rose thought it was time to give Hermione her 'gift'. Her dad gave her the idea when he suggested making a card like she used to when she was little. While she had a note already written for her mother's birthday, she thought she'd embellish it with some knitted flowers. However, she decided the knitted flowers in a temporary vase would make a good gift, so she recruited Hugo to help her find yarn and a vase to keep them in.
While everyone was eating cake, she removed the flowers from the pocket of her robes and presented them to Hermione. "Hugo suggested 'borrowing' flowers from the greenhouses for you," she said. "But I disagreed."
