RP: Caractacus and Snape Who: Caractacus Burke and Severus Snape Where: In Caractacus's rooms and wherever Snape happens to be When: Sept. 13th, 2025 Summary: Caractacus misdials his new toy.
Shortly after ending his conversation with Ms. Prince the previous night, it had occured to Caractacus that if Ms. Prince did indeed possess many of these communicative devices, then those gobstones must also have opposites. And those opposites had owners. Sitting at his book and note covered desk, Caractacus removed the sphere from the pockets of his robe and examined it.
Softly, Caractacus could sense the magic of the gobstone through his fingers, reaching out and resonating with the stone that was in Ms. Prince's possession. That was not what he wanted. What he wanted was a way to tweak the device to seek out other, similar gobstones. Discovering who Ms. Prince had gifted with the stones would assist in his determining of why she had gifted him with it. The silvery liquid moved mesmerizingly inside of the ball, and Caractacus found himself staring. It truly had been a most inventive idea on Ms. Prince's part.
Slowly, Burke reached out a small push of magic at the gobstone, testing how the ball would react, the smiled. It took the magic well enough; that was a relief at least. Modifying the device to run on his instructions would not be overly difficult. After dismantling the radio box earlier in the week, Caractacus was eager to apply the box's ability to scan for a signal to the gobstone. It had taken time to isolate the form of magical signal the gobstone had used to communicate, but after he had the idea had been easy enough to work through. Caractacus took his wand and touched it to the sphere, "Quaero."
He did not know if it would work; and he felt his frustration growing as the stone continued showing him nothing more than its inner silvery liquid, "You blasted device, do as I say!" Burke pushed another burst of magic through the wand.
Ah! There!
The sphere began to show a fuzzy image.
"Yes...that's it...a bit more, show me who has it..." Burke kept his wand touched to the sphere, tweaking the image slightly.
