RP: Cassandra and Lilith
Who: Cassandra Urquhart and Lilith Lestrange
Where: Urquhart Estate, Gardens
When: Saturday, 11 September, 2025, afternoon
Summary: Cassandra's invited Lilith over for tea.
Though Cassandra had joked about it, it did truly seem as if the small social circle of young women that had formed over the Summer was dwindling terribly now that Autumn was approaching. Belvina and Andromeda were now at Hogwarts, and, therefore, no longer publicly suitable as acquaintances in any case, though that certainly was little deterrent. Katherine was married to Macnair and, apparently, restricted to the house more often than not. Cassandra had never had any inclination to socialise with Bellatrix Lestrange outside of large, group functions. There were some girls from school still in the country.
And then there was Lilith.
Lilith was still something of an enigma to Cassandra. She was married to Rabastan Lestrange, seeming to be devoted and besotted with him. She was carrying his child. And, yet, she never seemed truly happy. Not that Cassandra supposed anyone married to that man could be happy. But, Lilith gave every appearance of having chosen this life for herself and still seemed almost melancholy and resigned at most times. It made one wonder. The assumption was that she was completely in league with the current regime by default. But, Belvina's words had made Cassandra begin to think it might be worth the time necessary to take another look.
Which was how she'd come to extending an invitation to the young woman to join her for tea that afternoon. For all her notoriety, the girl must feel lonely, mustn't she? Cassandra had never seen her socialise unless it was an official affair or Cassandra herself had issued the invitation.
Tea had been set out for them in the garden, near the old fashioned roses Cassandra remembered Lilith admiring during the Society Tea in June. The fare was light and simple with fresh fruits and small cakes in addition to the finger sandwiches. Considering Lilith's condition, Cassandra had also included the option of a raspberry tea, which Grand-mère had taught her was good for soothing the stomach.
"I'm glad you could join me today," she told Lilith with a smile as they sipped their tea and watched the garden quietly. "Not too many more warm days to enjoy out of doors, I would think. Are things going well for you at the Ministry these days?" she inquired politely.
