Victoire leaned up and kissed her husband's cheek, whispering in his ear. "Don't worry, love. I've said all I need to say, and you are right, it is better that way." She wiped a bit of lipstick off his cheek. These people really weren't as civilized as they liked to pretend to be with their thinly veiled insults. She would never think of them as family.
"You don't need to apologize to me." Why should her husband have apologize for their behavior anyway? She was quite happy that her family was so much more hospitable.
