"My father was a mechanic." She realized that Belvina might not even know what that was, and explained. "Someone who works with autos and other engines." Hopefully by now she'd have some idea what a car was. "But my mother was a teacher. Not at Hogwarts, of course, since they were Muggles."
She studied the other woman for a moment before answering the question. "To put it simply, everything is covered. Even the Dark Arts, and the Unforgiveables." She still wasn't a fan of the idea of using those curses in practice, but it was necessary. The Death Eaters wouldn't think twice, and they needed to be able to counter them. "We're learning to throw them off, and counter them in ways they'd never teach in Auror training. It's not ideal, and I'll never be comfortable with it, but it's what's needed right now."
She was quiet for a moment, thinking about the last training session and how much it had hurt at the end, and put it out of her mind for now. "I can only imagine. I know how much of a shock it was for me, and I'm only forty years out of my time."
She returned the smile, happy to talk about her favorite subject: James, and along with him Sirius and Remus. "Yes, James and I were at school with Remus and Sirius. It's a bit odd now, because they're almost ten years older than I remember." She paused, and battled the lingering sadness about the time they'd all lost. "James and I were killed when our son was just a year old. The...the current Minister wanted Harry dead, and we were in his way."
