"I have followed every rule. I have taken care of the dragons on the schedule laid out, and this is the only thing I have ever asked for and only this one time, and it isn't even for special treatment for me," he replied. He swore people made assumptions about everything he said, no matter who it was. It made him feel more depressed than he was already. "I have never walked away from my work, or complained about it, and I am not avoiding the war. I went into the last battle with everyone else, and it wasn't even a question. this situation isn't about any of that, because if there was a battle coming, I would go get a broom and be ready with everyone else."
He pushed the plate away, knowing he wasn't going to touch it. "The separation weighs on everyone, and nobody wants to say anything. I have tried to do everything that I can do. All I know is that the one bit of contact makes me work harder. It makes me want to fight harder, more than extra hours of sleep do. Yes, I think everyone deserves a visit. It would make this place better, or more bearable." Would it last though, one visit versus regular visits? He didn't see that happening.
