Al nodded. "Perhaps," he said, renewing the drying charm on his glasses. "I don't want to collide with anyone walking."
Scorpius, and Jamie, and everyone else in Al's family made flying brooms look so easy. Easy and fast.
Al concentrated and attempted Severus' Blink Charm while holding the broom in his hand instead of the wand. He'd practiced it wandlessly before. Nicto!
Huh. The broom moved with Al and he didn't lose hold of it.
Perhaps it was worth practicing that particular spell while sitting on the broom, in the air. That might help avoid collisions.
The fact that he could just fly higher didn't enter Al's mind. To fly higher, he had to learn to fly low first and there was no sense in doing things out of order.
"A reading session sounds like a worthwhile activity," Al agreed. "I'll be interested in seeing the reading lists ahead of time in order to plan my attendances." He was easy-going as far as reading went. Unless the material read aloud was something utterly terrible, like poetry which didn't rhyme or scan, but then Al could quietly leave, of course.
Al watched Rose out of the corner of his eye. She seemed unsteady. "New broom?" he wondered.
