Re: After dinner - Katherine & Belvina
Katherine had breathed a sigh of relief as Walden walked off to speak to his friends for a moment, giving her another small pause to breathe. When Belvina arrived, she too forced the smile on her face, understanding only too well the meaning behind her ways.
"I assure you that I intend to do my utmost to ensure it," she said. Now if she could only find a way to ensure that Macnairs health was less than stellar she'd be delighted. His unexpected death would be quite suitable to her ends.
She supposed she'd have to start thinking of him as Walden now. it seemed wrong, but she'd make an effort.
She shook her head when Belvina apologised. "There is really no need to apologise," she said, and for a moment her voice betrayed her. She recovered quickly however, and looked to Walden where he was standing. "I'm quite sure he didn't mind," he said, remembering his hand on her thigh, his whispered words. She shuddered but pushed back the surge of panic that threatened her act. The intonation would be enough, she hoped, to convey that she had dared to ask him to put a stop to it, but that he'd refused to heed her.
She hesitated for a while, then decided that she would be a very poor excuse for a hostess if she did not ask, risk or not. "Are you all right?" She would not be, of course, but all right was relative. Given the circumstances and events, not permanently hurt would be sufficient for all right. She hoped she'd be 'all right' after time spent alone with her new husband.
