She had lost herself when they led Belvina out, fear overtaking her entirely. She turned to her father, but he did nothing and then there was a touch and she nearly jumped with fear and disgust. Swallowing hard, she forced her mind to work, forced herself not to look too terrified as she looked at him.
"Of course I am," she lied. "Though I had wish all the guests would stay until the end of dinner," she added softly, almost pleadingly, hoping beyond any logical reasonable hope that he'd actually want to fulfil this one wish of hers.
Her heart was beating too fast, and her mouth was completely dry. It was all she could do to keep from panicking, or throwing up, but she did not pull her leg away, or moved in any way that would offend him. Only her eyes betrayed the fear she felt.
