"I think I'd settle for boring," Alastor chuckled weakly. "At least for a few days. Boring would be good." When it was boring no one was causing trouble, breaking the rules, complaining, or dying.
He understood what she was saying. But, it didn't make him feel any better. Messy was...messy. And knowing the logic behind something didn't seem to make any difference once emotion got involved. In fact, in some cases, it only made it worse.
"I don't think anyone ever 'gets is'," he said finally. "They just end up accepting it. None of us were ever good at just accepting things, though."
