Today, there was no room for pranks. It would have been easy to go along with that farce and squeeze a hand or put his arm around Charlie, but it felt too fake, too much a performance. Instead, he'd stood with Charlie, shoulder to shoulder until the memorial was over.
When Charlie spoke, he squeezed Charlie's shoulder for a moment. "No, I wouldn't think it would. Everyone is a new loss, a different person. It's all right to mourn them all, in different ways."
He moved so he could face the other man. "Do you want to stay? I can hang around for a while if you want to talk to your family." He could go back to the camp as well, but he didn't think Charlie wanted to be alone.
