Alastor shook his head. "'I'm not advocating one tower for residentials. I'm saying use the corridors surrounding a particular tower -- for example adjoining corridors to the Bell Towers -- to house the people, using all seven floors as we have to. And use the Tower or towers to house the research and offices. But, keeping them together in one section of the castle is still easier to defend than splitting them up.
"And, even if the staircases didn't misbehave in an emergency, there's nowhere you can house people in this castle where getting cutoff that way isn't a risk. Most of the towers have entrances at the corridor levels, not ground level. And by splitting them up between those two pairs of towers, they have to traverse 'off limits' areas in between just to get from one to another for things like meals. Unless we allow meals to be served in their rooms at certain times."
Huffing quietly, Alastor looked at Severus with a wry smirk. "Trust me, that is not an argument you want to get started. Let them have their club and don't give them a reason to bitch about not having enough recreation. Or, I'm sending all complaints to you because once through it was enough for me."
