James looked at his brother, knowing how much he would hate it, but then he hugged Al. There were no claps, but just one tight hug, before letting go, even though he would have happily held Al forever. He hadn't protected Mum or Lily, and he wouldn't make the same mistake with his little brother.
"Promise that you'll find me if you need anything. You can send a house elf. They know who I am," he said, because that was the sort of thing Al would wonder. "Okay?"
