James barely felt the touch, oblivious to what was happening around then. He just had to think of a way to wake her up, to make her open her eyes and tease him mercilessly for being such a baby. He just needed some time and he would find a solution.
The hand didn't let him, though, still there, still trying to get his attention and then it was warm and familiar on his neck and he turned to look at Sirius. "She won't wake up," he said, through the tears.
He knew how ridiculous he was being, and how many bodies he'd seen by now. He had never cried, never shown any emotion, even when members of his family had died, but this was his mother. She had survived Riddle at twelve. She wasn't supposed to die.
"God... Sirius." He leaned against his husband, still holding her body. "I don't know what to do."
