Re: The Reception, Hannah and open
"It wasn't though." Ron denied when Hermione reminded him again what marriage was originally intended for. "It was never an imposition to me, and I never wanted to stake a claim on you." He didn't understand the problem here - if it wasn't about subjugation for them, or ownership then why should Hermione have a problem with being married to him?
"That's not the point though, of course I don't love you any less because we're not married." Ron shook his head. "I married you because I love you, not because I wanted to be good, or religious or anything like that. I love you and I want to be married to you, I don't understand why that's wrong."
He rolled his eyes when she smiled. "I know marriages can end, but are you trying to tell me that you were going to divorce me at some point?" He seriously doubted that, especially as Hermione had been reassuring him that she loved him and she wasn't going anywhere. "There is something more significant about a marriage than simply living with a person for your whole life. And I know it's not the most significant thing int he world - and maybe not at all to you, but it is to me." He frowned as he finished, not sure what else he could say if Hermione was going to just keep trying to make him see the logic of what she was saying - maybe wanting to be married wasn't the most logical thin in the world, but he wanted it none the less.
