Re: The Reception, Hannah and open
"I wasn't talking about laws or legal basis, I was talking about us." Ron said a bit petulantly, that may have been what their conversation had been about but Ron had never felt any qualms about derailing a train of thought on to some related tangent. It was a small relief to hear that Hermione hadn't felt like she'd been subjugated or something in their marriage, but Ron still didn't like the turn things had taken. Couldn't they just enjoy today?
Of course then Hermione just had to ruin all that relief when she continued, gods after all the years they'd been together Ron really should have known when to keep his mouth shut, but he never learned. "An obligation?" He practically squawked. "You never saw the point?" Ron could hardly believe what he was hearing, from Hermione; the woman who reminded him after the decree from the ministry had gone out that they were still married, that they had the muggle certificate as well - to hear that had all been simply for legal reasons? What did that say about them? About their marriage? All the years they'd been together?
Ron could feel himself going red as he worked through all these questions in his mind, coming up with one explanation for the words Hermione spoke after another, each worse than the one before, until he finally couldn't take it. Though rather than punch someone the way he had with Sirius, Ron stood up from the table. "I need to stretch my legs." It was still Rose's day after all, and the last thing any of them needed was for him to start throwing a fit right there at their table.
