Severus didn't need Legilimency to interpret Al's look. He returned it with a cynical smirk and a small shrug.
Spidery fingers interlaced on the table, drummed, fidgeted. This was the longest time he'd spent neither asleep nor doing something productive, since the siege started, and he wasn't enjoying the wasted time one little bit.
He glared at the beautiful roses scattered over the tablecloth as if they'd personally affronted him. "Transfigured," he declared in tones of deepest disgust. "I can't even use them for making rose absolute."
