Cassandra nodded, keeping the warm smile in place. But, in her head, she was watching Kat like a mother hawk. Because of her friendship with Persephone, Cassandra had looked after Kat as much as her sister while the two girls were growing up, at least when the girls were around the Stables or the estate. She was still concerned over the fact Kat hadn't been sent away before now as so many of the younger generation were. Cassandra had stayed for the business and to keep up appearances. But, Kat's parents should have sent her away like Persephone.
"I'll just be a moment here and then we can go to Fortescue's."
The business with the tailor went briskly and they were able to be on their way to the ice cream parlour in a few minutes. Eschewing the outdoor seating in favour of a booth inside that would provide more privacy, Cassandra waited until they had their orders and were seated before casting a privacy charm she'd refreshed her memory on shortly after Dylan had rescued her. "Now, you can pretend to smile for anyone watching, but tell me how you really are."
She knew the social games as well or better than Kat, after all. The young woman wasn't fooling Cassandra with that tight smile better suited for photographers at a party you don't want to be at than while answering the simple inquiry of a friend.
