"No I do understand, I've been married to your mother long enough to understand things are never just books. But right now, they are just books. We don't have the time or the ability to care about them more than books right now - not when we need to focus on keeping ourselves alive." And he would admit even in the best of times, to him books were still just books, but he understood how they were more to some people.
"Hey," Ron shook his head when she started in on their needs. "I know this is hard, believe me, I know. You think I like being here? You think I like the thought of you or Hugo being here? This isn't fun, for anyone, this is war though. These are the way things have to be right now - otherwise it's death." He looked at her, and could see how Hermione had lost her temper. "This is so much better than anything your uncle, mother, and I had in the last war. You have a roof over your head, you have food, you have the option to marry that boy if you want, and you're not eating mushrooms that your mother tried to turn into something edible."
"This is harsh, and I know it, but what you are being asked to do is so minimal. It's not meant to be fun though. It's meant to help, in part, keep us all alive. And I know you can manage that."
He sighed when she talked again about doing things in Haven. "Look I'll talk to Alastor about it, see what he says. They're not doing things to specifically give you a hard time, you need to understand that."
He shook his head. "If you can't actually tell me what's bothering you, instead of being stubborn then I suppose that's all."
