Summary: Stephen and Andromeda's engagement party.
The grounds looked spectacular this evening, after days of hard direction and minute supervision from Pansy. Nothing had been left to chance, from the food to the lights to the tables and centrepieces, Pansy had overseen it all, carefully checking that each individual item met their standards. The result was nothing short of a masterpiece.
The gathering took part in a designated area of the garden, as neither Pansy nor himself wanted to invite some of the "people" that were invited into their home. It was a disgrace that they could not leave out people like Greyback and Macnair, but times were what they were. You adapted. Once a year they opened their grounds to everyone, tonight they were doing the same. The spell protected grass sloped gently towards the water and the trees of the park made a natural background to the magnificent scene. The trees themselves seemed to sparkle, thousands of tiny fairies moving around amongst its branches. The main light, however, did not come from the sparkling hedges, but from what looked like thousands of candles hovering just overhead, giving the festivities a gentle glow.
The food was served from three massive buffet tables. There was food for every taste, of every possible variety, from caviar to fish to meat to vegetables – and one entire table reserved for desserts. The food itself was created so that each dish was perfectly easy to eat while standing or walking should you so wish, and arranged on self filling silver platters so that platters looked as if they had barely been touched at all. Swan sculptures of never-melting ice adorned the buffet tables, enchanted to move occasionally in realistic fashion.
Amongst the mingling guests silver trays laden with glasses of champagne were seemingly floating around, carried by invisible house elves with the strict order to listen to as many conversations as possible during the night. Of course there were spells for eavesdropping as well, but Theo had never been one to underestimate house elves. For those wanting other beverages, a bar was set up close to the buffet table, with everything you could possibly want, and in a corner of the garden a dance floor was set up, a string quartet playing wizard classical music right next to it.
A set of tables were standing to the other side of the area, flowers arranged around the area to make the setting more intimate for those wanting to sit and eat rather than stand. Theo didn’t expect too many to use them, but neither he nor Pansy would ever leave an opening for criticism. They may hate the engagement, and the people attending or the situation that made them throw the party in the first place, but that was no excuse to do anything short of perfection.
Security was stringent, as he'd not have the anyone interfere with an event at his manor. Well into the party, Theo walked around the crowd with an easy smile on his face, talking to anyone of importance. This might be a party for Stephen and Andromeda, but like everything, it was all about politics and staying on top of things.
