Re: Katherine and Walden
Walden could remember other parties hosted by the Notts. Nicholas had been a very inventive host.
Sadly, this was nothing like one of Nicholas' parties.
Wandering idly through the crowd, he couldn't help thinking he'd have to find someone to play with later in order to relieve the boredom of the evening. There was a trade-off to power he was not enjoying -- restraint. He had to pretend to like these people and refrain from playing games with their daughters or sons unless pressure of an intimidating sort was required.
Still, he smiled when he saw someone he could play with here for the sole reason he was the only one aware of the game. Sliding behind her, as though angling between her and the person standing behind her, he brushed against Kat Yaxley. It was close, very close, and would have put a smile on his face if he wasn't playing a game.
"My apologies, Miss," he said solicitously, as though he truly had a problem rubbing up against a lovely woman so accidentally. "I'm terribly sorry. I thought there was more room to get by."
